My Best Kept Secrets of 2013: The Posts You Didn’t See

In my first year of blogging there were some amazing days when posts got liked and shared and commented on.

There were also days of slogging away with nobody looking in.

Sometimes the problem was clearly bad timing: It was hard to lure in readers in the busy days of December, and if I posted late on a Friday it tended to go unnoticed.

Sometimes the problem was titles: they were too often more clever than clear.

Sometimes it was just early on: It takes a while to find my feet in this process — and for a long while few read anything here at all!

And sometimes Facebook’s algorithms were against me: I got more views from Facebook than any other referral source, but they often show my posts to as few as 10% of those who have “liked” my page.

So just in case you would like a little New Year’s reading, here are the links to the Bottom Ten according to my stats report. Check ’em out!

10. And Who Is Your God? Heidelberg and the Trinity

9. The Secret to Living Comfortably in Stressful Times (Heidelberg Catechism Q.1)

8. Leap Into the Light

7. So Give Thanks! (Heidelberg Catechism, Q. 4)

6. Thomas A. Dorsey, Reformed Theologian?

5. Advent 2: Thinking about John the Baptist (Heidelberg Catechism Q. 69)

4. Whose Kingdom? Whose Power? Whose Glory?

3. Tidings of Comfort and…

2. Advent 3: Thinking about Jesus’ Earthly Ministry (Heidelberg Catechism Q. 90)

And now (drumroll please…) the least-viewed post of my blog in 2013:

1. Where Did That Mess Come From?

I kinda like these posts so I thought I’d share them again. I hope you’ll take a look!

I’d love to hear what any of you think about any of these posts. You can leave a comment here or on the original posts — or you could email me through the contact page.

If any of them strike your fancy it would of course be great if you shared them on Facebook or other social media!

I , as you, have just completed my first year of disciplined blogging. The year has been rewarding, but I slogged through some weeks as well. I am looking forward to another year. Blessings, and keep writing.
