(This book giveaway is not closed. Details can be found here.)
In honor of passing 7000 page views on my blog just now, I’m kicking off my second book giveaway!
I’ll be giving one free copy of Kneeling with Giants: Learning to Pray with History’s Best Teachers (InterVarsity Press, 2012), to someone who leaves a comment on this post per the rules below.
I’d also love to reach 500 “likes” on my Facebook page. I currently have 442. Here’s how it will work:
To enter, leave a comment on this post on my blog, saying “I liked your Facebook page” or words to that effect. I’ll close entries and randomly draw the name of one of those who left a comment on the post when “likes” on the page hit 500.
- You can leave a comment and be eligible whether you just liked my Facebook page now or if you liked the page a long time ago.
- Actually you don’t even have to really “like” the Facebook page, though you are invited to do so using the button on the right of your screen.
- To the best of my knowledge it is legal to send it anywhere, so I invite my international readers to enter as well.
- Per Facebook rules, this contest hereby includes
a. A complete release of Facebook by each entrant or participant.b. Acknowledgement that the promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook.

Thanks Thomas! Hope you’ll like my Facebook page!
The drawing may take a while since it won’t happen till the FB page reaches 500… but who knows? It may be YOU!

Already have the Kindle version, but now that I have read it would not mind owning it in hard copy. :See” you in class next week!
Gary Neal Hansen says
Hi Roz! Great to be in touch again. I think you aleady liked my FB page, right?
Melody Harrison Hanson says
I’d like to read your book.
Gary Neal Hansen says
Thanks Melody! Nice to meet you, and I’d love to hear how you found my blog.
By the way, I clicked through to yours earlier tonight–very cool.
Hope you’ll like my FB page, though it is not at all required for the giveaway.

I love to find new theologians and to read and study on my own. It informs my writing, my living, my journey. I don’t remember what trail I was following that day. I love the internet for the ability one has to follow the bread crumbs around cyberspace and be enriched. Thanks for visiting my blog.
Melody Harrison Hanson says
I’ve been on a journey into prayer in a new way this summer and discovered that one can learn so much from the experiences of others. My prayer life has been agnostic, tepid, and fearful (because my perceptions of God being wrong — long story) and so reading about others experiences informs what is possible.
Gary Neal Hansen says
Thanks so much Melody. Good to know a little bit of your story here — maybe others will click through to learn more on your blog. When you do read the book I think you’ll find a rich variety of deeply rooted ways to approach God in prayer. One of them is going to be just right for you.
Who knows? Maybe I’ll draw your name and the book will be yours… but be patient because I won’t draw a name until I have 500 “likes” on my Facebook page and I just crossed 450!
Kim Skilling says
Hi Gary. I have liked you from our seminary days, I suspect that I would love your book. 🙂 Didn’t know about it before today, but I will definitely be checking it out
Gary Neal Hansen says
Hey, Kim, how great to hear from you! Hope you’ll email me an update — I haven’t heard news for a very long time. How did you come across the blog? Come back soon — usually two posts a week if I’m not snowed under in work and life as in this last few weeks.
Gary Neal Hansen says
Well folks, I did say it would take a while. Facebook “likes” are now at 451…
The giveaway will still be a drawing of a name of someone leaving a comment here, and I’ll be continuing to send the the link out through Twitter.
If you are ever so inclined, feel free to share the link to this post by copying and pasting the URL to your own FB timeline. Who knows? Maybe it will help speed things up.

Hey everybody, my Facebook page is up to 478 “likes” so we are getting closer. Still a way to go, so hang in there! (Feel free to encourage friends to join in — John Wylie did and the number went up something like 13 in a day. Thanks John!)
Gary Neal Hansen says
My “likes” have reached 485, thanks apparently to a boost from Methodist readers of my Wesley posts! We are closing in on that elusive 500…
Gary Neal Hansen says
499 today! ONE MORE Facebook “like” and I might have this book in someone’s hands by Christmas…
Kim Burnett-Hackbarth says
I am honored to be the 500th “LIKE” on your Facebook page!!
Gary Neal Hansen says
Friends thanks for your patience! The random number generator at Random.org selected our very last entry! Congratulations Kim!
