Book Giveaway

August 1, 2013 by Gary Neal Hansen 4 Comments

Kneeling with Giants - coverI’m giving away a copy of my book, Kneeling with Giants: Learning to Pray with History’s Best Teachers (InterVarsity, 2012) to a randomly selected new subscriber to my blog!

It will go to one of the first 25 subscribing, with the count starting from Wednesday’s post where I first announced it. As of Saturday evening 22 have subscribed (THANK YOU!).  That means just 3 more …

My goals here are to do something for my readers, to have some fun, and to stay better connected to people who otherwise find the posts via social media.

That includes you, Finland, Germany, United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand! I’d love to see those anonymous stats turn into subscribers and friends.

Blessings,

Gary

Hi Amy! Sorry — the machine accidentally sent your message to the spam filter for some reason. I just found it.

Look to the top right corner of the main page of the blog (doesn’t matter what post) if you are on a regular computer. Find the button that says “Follow that Blog” or a window that says to type in your email address to receive email notifications of new posts. Click or type as seems appropriate to the instructions on-screen. You’ll get an email notification asking you to confirm. Then you are good to go!

      Blessings,

      Gary

Gary, I have spent the last 35 minutes trying to be one of the last 8 people to qualify for the random first 25 new bloggers but could not get through that StumbeOn stuff to get to Facebook. So, thought, I’d try this way. I’m anxious to get back to reading your new series notes and responding. Take Care. Vicky B.

    Dear Vicky:

Very sorry to hear you’ve had more troubles! I certainly didn’t intend to occupy so much of your time just subscribing. Let’s troubleshoot:

    1. You don’t want to get to Facebook. You want to get OUT of Facebook. If you found the blog through your StumbleUpon account that might also be the problem. I had someone else have trouble because she clicked through from Facebook.

What worked for her was getting a fresh browser window and googling “garynealhansen.com” or coming to the site directly by typing that in her browser’s address window.

    2. If you mentioned StumbleUpon because you clicked on the “Stumble Upon” or “Facebook” buttons below a post, this too will have taken you the wrong direction.

The subscription button is at the top right corner of the page, right below the monastery picture and the black bar with the links marked “about” “books” etc., no matter what post you are looking at.

    3. I am describing the screen when using a regular computer. If you are using a handheld device like a phone or iPod or iPad you may need to scroll to the bottom (about a week’s worth of posts) to find the subscription button.

    4. And with all things computery, if all else fails turn the machine off and restart it. That can blow out a whole lot of cyber cobwebs.

Please zap me an email if none of those things work. Did you receive the one I sent you?

    Blessings,

    Gary
